Coverall Fabric Engineering

FABRIC WEIGHT THAT
MATCHES THE WORK

A 6oz coverall for a food processing plant is a different garment than a 12oz FR coverall for a foundry. We engineer each fabric system to the specific hazard and wear condition.

Lightweight 6oz coverall fabric sample
6–7 oz

Indoor facilities, warm climates, food processing, cleanrooms

Breathable, all-day comfort, 80+ wash cycle durability, minimal break-in period

Midweight 8oz coverall fabric sample
8–9 oz

General industrial, manufacturing, auto service, corporate/service crews

Most popular weight class — balances durability with wearability, triple-stitched stress points, 80+ wash cycles

Heavyweight 10oz coverall fabric sample
10–11 oz

Construction, oil and gas, utilities, cold-weather outdoor work

Reinforced knee and elbow panels, bar-tacked pocket corners, abrasion-resistant, structured collar

Extreme duty 12oz coverall fabric sample
12 oz+

Foundries, welding, heavy abrasion, molten metal environments

Maximum thermal protection, double-layer critical zones, industrial wash rated, FR and arc-flash certified

Verification & Compliance

CERTIFICATIONS — NOT CLAIMS

Every certification is lot-specific and verified by independent ISO 17025-accredited laboratories. Test reports ship with your order — your compliance file is complete before the container leaves.

Lot-specific certification means garment samples from your production batch are tested, not a one-time fabric certification. Test reports include your purchase order number. This satisfies safety auditors, insurance requirements, and regulatory compliance documentation.

"Inherent FR vs. Treated FR isn't a quality question — it's a lifecycle math question. We've seen programs save 30% on the PO and lose 200% on replacements because nobody modeled the wash cycle. Fabric choice alone can swing unit cost 3×–5× across the range, and lot-specific certification adds $800–$2,500 per standard. Same thing with components — one wrong zipper tape or non-FR thread, and the certification is invalid. That's why our techpack specifies every trim by brand and model: Nomex thread, brass YKK zippers, stainless steel snaps, FR-rated tape. And why your bulk order is cross-checked against the lab-tested sample before production starts."

Offshore oil rig FR coverall program — FR certified
01
2024 Gulf of Mexico Offshore Operator
HSE Procurement Manager, 12+ years in offshore safety

1,200 FR Coveralls for Offshore Drilling Fleet

1,200 FR coveralls across 3 rigs
28 Days from PO to delivery
0 Rejects across full order
The Problem

180 crew across three offshore rigs needed FR-certified coveralls with individual name embroidery, hazard-zone reflective tape, and a full 16-size matrix with tall variants. Previous supplier took 12+ weeks with inconsistent sizing.

What We Did

Crew roster imported directly into the size grading matrix. Fit samples in 5 days. Full production on FR-dedicated lines with Nomex thread and brass zippers. Lot-specific ASTM F1930 lab reports shipped with every carton. Tape placement ±2mm, embroidery delta E under 1.5.

HSE auditor signed off in under an hour. Every test report matched our PO number, every coverall met the spec. Zero exchanges, zero returns, zero crew downtime. Standardized on LantaoWork for all FR PPE across the fleet.

Highway maintenance crew ANSI Class 3 hi-vis coverall program
02
2024 Southeastern U.S. State Highway Authority
Safety Director, 18 years in public sector fleet management

500 ANSI Class 3 Hi-Vis Coveralls for Highway Crews

500 ANSI Class 3 hi-vis coveralls
40% Above ANSI retroreflectivity minimums
200 Reordered within 7 days of delivery
The Problem

Highway crews working 10-hour Florida summer shifts needed 10oz poly-cotton coveralls with moisture-wicking lining, ANSI Class 3 reflective tape, waterproof panels, and an exact Pantone 021 C match. Previous supplier tape delaminated after 20 washes.

What We Did

Sourced 10oz fabric, matched Pantone 021 C within delta E 1.2, retroreflectivity goniophotometer verification at every QC station. FR-rated reflective tape with 80+ wash durability. Measurements came back 40% above ANSI Class 3 minimums.

Reordered 200 more within the week. When a crew tells you the coveralls are comfortable in August heat AND visible to traffic at night, the spec was right. First uniform rollout in 18 years with zero complaints.

Midwest automotive assembly plant industrial coverall program

3,000 Industrial Coveralls for Automotive Assembly Plant

3,000 Coveralls across 12 departments
32 Days from PO to delivery
0% Defect rate vs. 8% industry average
The Problem

Three-shift, 24/6 assembly plant with 12 department-specific uniform specs. Previous supplier: 8% rejects, 12-week lead times, forcing shift supervisors to maintain emergency inventory. Critical requirement: zero tolerance for zipper failure.

What We Did

Six dedicated production lines, color-coded pocket linings by department, continuous-filament aramid thread at all stress points. Zippers tested to 10,000+ cycles. AQL 2.5 inspection with critical defects at AQL 0.1 — zero major defects.

Previous supplier: 12 weeks, 8% rejects. LantaoWork: 32 days, zero defects. Eliminated the emergency inventory pool — saved $40K in tied-up working capital. Now the sole coverall source across all three U.S. plants.

Straight Answers for Procurement Teams

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ABOUT COVERALL MANUFACTURER

What is the minimum order quantity for custom coveralls — and does it vary by type?
+

Standard MOQ is 100 pieces per style. FR and hi-vis coveralls with third-party lab certification start at 100. For DTF decoration or laser-etched hardware, MOQ drops to 50 pieces. Reorder MOQ: 50 per style.

What FR and safety certifications can you provide — and are they lot-specific?
+

NFPA 2112, ASTM F1506, ANSI/ISEA 107, EN 1149, and IEC 61482 — all lot-specific. Garment samples from your production batch are tested by an independent ISO 17025-accredited lab. Test reports include your PO number and ship with the goods.

What closure systems are available — zipper, snaps, or Velcro?
+

All three. Two-way brass or nylon zipper with storm flap is standard on industrial and FR coveralls. Mechanic coveralls use concealed snap-front. Arc-rated FR can add a Velcro storm flap overlay. See the Customization section above for full options.

How is reflective tape configured on hi-vis coveralls?
+

ANSI Class 1, 2, or 3 — selected by traffic speed and visibility risk. Tape is segmented or continuous, placed at arms, legs, and torso, with placement tolerances verified against ANSI minimums. See the Customization section above for full configuration options.

Can I mix different coverall types — FR, hi-vis, and industrial — in one purchase order?
+

Yes. Different types run simultaneously on their dedicated lines and ship as one consolidated delivery. MOQ applies per style, not per PO.

What's the difference between Inherent FR and Treated FR fabrics — and which should I choose for my coveralls?
+

Inherent FR (Nomex, Kevlar) costs more upfront but protection is permanent. Treated FR (Proban/Pyrovatex cotton) costs less initially but may need earlier replacement. For multi-year programs, inherent FR typically wins on total cost of ownership. See the full comparison table in the Fabric & Compliance section above.

How do I verify that my bulk coverall order matches the certified lab sample?
+

We send randomly pulled samples from your production lot to an independent ISO 17025 lab (SGS, Intertek, or UL). The test report carries your PO number, fabric roll IDs, and trim specs — cross-reference it against your pre-production sample and techpack.

What quality inspection standards do you use for safety-critical coveralls?
+

AQL 2.5 for major defects, AQL 0.1 for safety-critical defects (closures, seams, labeling). Every order goes through inline inspection plus a final AQL sample check before packing.
